Make a Move Annual General Meeting

The Make a Move AGM was held on Monday 10 October at Somerdale Pavilion in Keynsham.

Great turnout!

There were thirteen people attending – a unique opportunity for team members, trustees and supporters to actually meet each other – many for the first time – we’ve all been working towards a common goal (making life better for the world!) but had not all been in the same room together before. Marie joined us by Skype – it felt like she was in the room with us too!

Jemma & mini Victoria spongecakes

Jemma, cupcake creator!

Jemma, trustee and previous participant of our Moving On Up project for mums with low mood, brought with her some incredible and rather distracting cupcakes – she has her own baking business and the goodies went down extremely well!

Each member of the team spent two minutes introducing themselves – first talking a little about their background and what had brought them to Make a Move, and then about what they do for the charity now. It was a really interesting insight into our colleagues, their work and their motivations.

Delicious cupcakes!

Michelle then gave her CEO report on the past year and the work ahead. 2016 marks our fifth birthday and things have really developed and grown in that time.

Finally we heard reports from our main projects – work with older people (Kara), work with children (Sarah), work with mums with PND (Robyn), community outreach & mindfulness (Jules), corporate work (Katie), and our indepth action research sessions (Marie) – something we need to tell more people about – Michelle and Sarah and others meet weekly with Marie and Robyn and really reflect on, research and delve into our practice, and how and why we do what we do.

The whole thing was a really positive occasion which ended with everyone feeling excited about how we go forward and work together in the future: using movement & creative approaches to enhance people’s wellbeing.
